I'm seriously looking into transplanting a T-5 into my 2001 w/ the 4.7 and multi-speed auto, but from what I've been able to learn so far, there is no bellhousing available for this engine, since the NV3500 apparently has an integral bellhousing built in to the trans.

Why a T-5? Because the gear ratios in the NV3500 are not exactly what I have in mind (1st-4.01:1, 2nd-2.32:1....), and even if I COULD find a NV3500 and re-gear it, I'd still be left with the truck-like shifting - no aftermarket peformance shifters available for it.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to make this work, or am I just dreaming too much?

They make a kit and I think KRC does also.

Someone on this site has done just that mod. "Slickwilly",,,or something like that. I'm too busy to search,,,too busy to even be on this website :)................

Same engine and tranny combo. Said it was a nightmare. He got the Keislerauto kit. Sounded like he had to fab up alot of parts,,but that it was well worth it. Very knowledgeable guy.

Why the T-5? Isn't that a very light duty transmission that's normally used behind 4 cyl engines? Isn't it the same tranny that Ford put behind the mid-80's 5.0 V8 and had problems with the torque from the V8 breaking the T-5's? Or did they come out with a medium-duty version that'll handle more that 250 lb/ft of torque?

Thanks for the links, guys. It seems, however, that Keisler only makes bellhousings for the 5.2/5.9.... nothing for the 4.7 - just like everyone else. You'd think by now that these motors would be a little more mainstream.

Why a T-5? These can easily be built up to handle a good amount of power, plus... I'm not opposed to a T-45 or a TKO500.

I also thought of just using a NV3500 and changing out a couple of gears, but I'd still be stuck with the crappy shifter.... no aftermarket for these, either.
