Message: 4.7 5spd RC is just as fast stock, but if you're planning on doing any mods the 5.9 would be your best bet as it responds well to them.

Message: I think the 4.7 is perfect for the CC. I don't think you can get the 5.9 in a new CC but I'm not sure. Except the RT.
I have the 2002 Quad w/the 4.7. I kinda wish I had gotten the 5.9. I don't drive that much so gas prices are not a concern. It would be allot more fun, and easier, to power up the 5.9. I also like torque more than total horsepower.

Message: Yes, I love my 4.7L 5speed. Everyone always points to the R/T across the parking lot and goes, betcha wish you had that. And then I have to explain it to them how they are as fast stock and that I hate automatics like kids hate broccoli. If you can stand an auto, then there are no questions to ask, get an R/T. If not go my route. Just don't get black! Hey Handi, think you could look up the part number for that Shaw Thermostat? Fools at Autozone are as worthless as single ply toilet paper. Thanks.

Message: Well I'am going to get a 2002 Dakota Sport Plus CC with the 4.7 V8 auto. I don't like manual to much. It will eventually annoy me when I'm driving in the city and stuff. So just have to wait till the end of may and I'm going to order it.

Message: The 4.7 is new generation technology. I'm very happy with it.
As far as performance goes, the aftermarket will catch up with the new engine. I would bet the 4.7 has as much or more potential as the 5.9. The parts just aren't out there yet.
The same thing happened with my Camaro, in 1998 the LS1 was brand new and there were very few upgrades available, now there are tons of very powerful options.

Message: You guys say that the 4.7 does not respond well to aftermarket parts please!!!!!!! I have a 4.7 RC 5 spd with headers, airaid intake, throttle body spacer, and flowmaster exhaust. Right now I can't find any Mustang GT (stock/slightly modified)that can keep up with me. I was running 15.20 stock and now I am running 14.17 & 96 mph. My baby feels great and this is on 20 inch Boyd Coddington wheels.

Similarly the 45RFE is still a new tranny, haven't seen a shift kit or any talk about TC's for this. Hope they are in development too...

Message: Heads, cams, turbos will all be out this SUMMER!
Speedtweaks is getting us the Turbo and Hughes Engines is getting us cams and heads!
I can't wait, I have been saving my money this winter for this summer to mod it out.
I own a 2002 RC 2WD 4.7L 3.92 5SPD SLT+ and LOVE IT. Soo much fun to drive, it's a blast. For 16-17 grand you can not go wrong with this setup. Specially the deal on insurance. Once I turn in my grades I am going to be going full cov. 500/500 for 130 bucks montly on this beast! (I'm 18, lol).

My point!? Do you PAY for your insurance...
It's a b!tch! I probably would have a LS1 Camaro right now if it wasn't for the insurance!!
My point is, the Dakota is one of -- if not the most -- the fastest rides for the cheapest price and awesome price on insurance! It was a buying decision for me you see. For the younger crowd this is a VERY good plus. You 25+ year old guys/girls dont have this problem, but I do..
I am glad I got the Dakota though, I am REALLY REALLY glad!!

By the way to all you speed tweek heads they are not the first people to develop tirbos for the dakotas. I am installing twin turbo t3 turbos next week. They are still in the developmental stage. This kit is custom built and can be used on any truck. My mechanic had already put this kit on a v-6 two years ago. If anybody out there lives in Miami look up Sci-Tech Motorsports. The guys name is Bruce he is a speed god.

Message: I don't pay to much on insurance. Around 5000 a year since i'm almost 18. But I can get it down to around 3600 a year. Like if i get my marks over 70 average and I take drivers training. So thats pretty good for a 2002 Dakota. I took a quad cab dakota fully loaded with the 4.7. But once its my birthday, I'm going to order a 2002 CC Dakota with the 4.7. And sport plus for sure. Looks better. Just have to wait till my bday comes around next month to get my money. And get my parents to co-sign for me. Then I can get rid of my crap car.

You're right GMAN, there's one guy on this board who already has one built and on his 4.7L that he developed himself with some good hookups. It doesn't matter if you are the first, just as long as you do it better -- remember Seattle Computer?
