Subject: Dakota R/T Decision IP: Logged
Message: Hi All,
I'm in the market for a truck and have pretty well narrowed the choices down to two different Dakotas. Let me lay out the two scenarios for a little "help" in making this decision.
R/T #1: 2001 Regular Cab, 44,000 miles, 2 owner vehicle, Black Exterior with a bed cover, bed liner, Flowmaster muffler (single in and dual 2 1/2 out), new tires. Truck is in excellent shape and is being offered for $13,900. During initial discussions the owner indicated that he could come down to $12,900 and I think he'll come down a little more.
R/T #2: 1999 Extended Cab, 34,000 miles, 1 owner vehicle, Yellow Exterior, new tires. Truck is completely stock and in excellent condition. Truck is being offered for $10,500 and may be slightly negotiable.
Both of these trucks are very very clean. No door dings, no scratches and they both run out good. I could be happy with either one. The truck will be used to run errands, polish and "modify" as desired. What say those of you who have already faced and made a similar decision.
Thanks in Advance!!!

Message: its your decision. i have a deep amethyst 99 cc r/t, and i love it, but my friend has a black 01 reg cab r/t. i like his, its a little bit faster, but for everyday drivin, i like the extra space to stretch in mine alot better. but its all up to you, after all, its gonna be your truck

Message: I have a 2000 ext. cab for me and a 02 Sport reg cab for my wife. Both are 4.7's and her's is more fun to drive (some mods, dual flowmasters, ect) but mine has much more leg room. Depending on how tall you are (I'm 6'2" 210 #'s) the ext. cab fits me great. Good luck!!!! and enjoy!

Message: I have a reg cab like in my picture. I love this truck....it is great to drive. I am 6'3" 220 #s and the room in the truck is not would I say spatious!
If you like the little extra room get the ext. cab for sure! You will like somewhere to put your groceries or other items in the back seat instead of cramming them behind your driver seat!

Message: Get the yellow one, it's lower miles, ext.cab (I've got a 2000 CC R/T) and it's a pretty rare colour.

Message: Get the 99 R/T beacuse there are alot of parts out there you can get for it and not the 2001 because they stopped making certain ones after 2000.

Message: club cab.....
Also, more performance parts are easier to get for the 99
PLus, more room, plus lower miles, plus lower price, plus cool color, plus....

Message: "One owner" R/T may have had more TLC, potentially. Check Kelly Blue book site, or Edmunds, for market values.

Message: dslater35, Which ever one you don't get I want !
They both sound great but these trucks both
have a different body style and you'll have to
decide on which one looks better to you and if
the extra cab room matters that much for having
the longer wheelbase.Performance wise the reg.
will probly no doubt be faster ..... maybe ..?
Make sure neither one has a blown head gasket
or a leaking plenum intake gasket. I would pay
for the inspection before i bought either one of
them personally. Both have lowwwwww miles, so
your goin to end up with a solid fast dependable
truck either way, Theres no doubt alot of guy's
out there that would love this choice ! Me too !
Good luck, -Mike
