Subject: low idle/shutting off IP: Logged
Message: I posted a question on here awhile back about the low idle (200 RPM) on my 96 dodge dakota V8 318 magnum. The idle problem is still there but it has started to shut off sometimes when you push the clutch in. The faster you push the clutch the better the chance the truck will shut off. As soon as I push the clutch in the RPM's will drop almost down to nothing and then will recover to around 200. Other times it will not recover. IAC has been replaced and TB has been cleaned. There are no vacuum leaks either. This is driving me nuts as when you come to almost a stop to turn and you depress the clutch it shuts off disabling the power brakes and steering. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Message: I cleaned throttle body again with no luck. I thought i would unplug the IAC wires and see what happened. I can unplug it at idle and nothing happens, is this right? It is new so i hope its not bad already.

Have seen this problem 100 times on daks. Mine began stalling at stop lights as well. Reprogrammed computer and it works fine. Many times the idle control valve is not receiving a signal to pick up idle.
I found this doing a search. How do i go about possibly reprogramming the computer? Thanks.

Message: I had this problem on my 99 5.2 with 5 speed manual. My problem started when the speed sensor in the rear diff went out causing the ABS/Brake light to stay on and also the speedo to not work until past 30mph. After replacing the IAC the problem was not solved. Put a new Speed sensor in and it has not stalled since.
