Message: Ok I've heard MIXED stories.
So you are saying that YES the rev limiter can be raised??
If I could move it up 500+ or so I'd be happy.
Wonder if the gains for a 4.7 with cams and TB mods would be even better?

Message: Rev limiter is _not_ adjustable on the SC for the 4.7. SC's marketing BS on the site and box note it, but then say "not all items are adjustable on all engines", or some such.

Message: I have the SC programmer on my truck and as far as I can tell the rev limiter is gone. I've reved it up to 6 grand and nothing kicked in. This is with a manual transmission. Before I programmed it the rev limiter was around 5,500.

Message: Hello,
I don't think 'kotagirl' has installed this SC programmer. I have. Like said, the 4.7 has no option for the rev. limiter. It's still there on my manual tranny, on any of the three programs. It does raise the speed limiter, on the dyno mine was way off the speedo in 4th at 6 grand. Before mine was ~115mph.
Graphite,
did you see my dyno run on the performance board, and what it's making at 6grand?

Message: Quik,
I tried it cause it was the only thing so far that dynoed a difference as far as programming for my 01, 4.7. A difference, yes.
Recommended it? Well, At least it does something.

Message: MoFinWiley1 I'd like to get some more agressive cams like yours in the future. I've just got the HO cams (200's) and a ported 68MM and mine pulls right to the 6K stock limiter and feels like it was still pulling!
This engine should rev to 6500 easy with a better cam and valve springs!
On KRC they have build ups all engine that run towards 7K making power.
Todd. I saw the dyno. Don't remember the powerband off the top of my head. Are you going to say your power DROPPED off by 6K?
I dunno. I've HAD small blocks that I revved to 7K before. I guess I kind of miss that.

Message: GraphDak,
Here you go. I got the superchips tuner for the 4.7 Dakota. I have a 2003 Club Cab, with the 4.7 like I said. I installed the program for the performance (the most aggressive). It gave me the option to raise the rev limiter either 250 or 500 rpm. It says it in the instruction manual and also gives you the option when installing it. I do not know if you can raise it for the towing or 87 octane options, but rest assured you can for the performance option.

Message: Dan my instruction manual said that too, but when I installed it on my 01 4.7 manaul tranny, it says no option for the rev limiter raise.
Interesting that in fact if yours will and mine won't, what's up with that?

Message: Dan, is yours an auto?
maybe the limit is unadjustable on the manual because of clutch material RPM limitations???
just a thought.
One time in my Mustang i shoved it into the wrong gear when doing 80MPH. It had a t-5 tranny. Well, the RPM's shot so high the clutch material flew off the clutch disk!

Which program did you install? When I installed the performance program, it let me raise it. If yours does not then you might have a bad programmer.
Graph, I have a manual transmission.

Message: Now this is interesting.
I'd still be intersted in possibly getting a programmer. They still going for around $300?
Gonna have to be a while. This is not exactly my "RICH" time of ther season and we're trying to save some money to get two new ATV's for our kids who outgrown what they had.
Plus, I kind of wanted my 4.10 gear swap to be my next project. Although, if I ALREADY had the programmer I'd be set to calibrate my speedo when I DID the gear swap.
Hmm....

Message: Graph,
A little off topic, but have you done anything to your injectors? I have seen a lot of posts where people are talking about it. I have just put on a k&n intake and catback along with the programmer. Do ya think getting a better set of injectors will help any? Also, I noticed you put on an electric fan, any help there? Have you considered an underdrive pulley set?

Message: I saw on another board that the programmer supposedly raises the rev limiter by 400rpm over stock in the Perf program. According to the source at SC, it's not a question during the program install though.
I know my rev limiter cuts in at 6100 rpm, when I get my programmer back (in the next year or two apparently...) I'll find out if my limiter is higher or not.

Message: I was wondering is it even worth spending that kind of money for something thats only going to raise the horsepower 15 to 22. That seems sinceless. I have a 00' 4.7 and I ran a 14.7 with just an exhaust and a intake. (new plugs and relocated the IAT sensor). Now I have a Hurst short throw, Gibson headers, Jet stage 2, helix spacer, lowered 3-5, now runinng a 100 shot of nos. have not ran since the mods. I want to do a manifold swap and cams. How to do?
Thank you for your alls time Superb
