Subject: muffler replacement IP: Logged
Message: I have the stock muffler on my 2003 quad cab 4x4 and was wondering what muffler would fit with no mods...i mean direct replacement. I am looking for something with a deeper throatier sound.
thanks

Message: ON my 01 Quad cab, 4.7,
I just had my third cat cut out, and now it's deeper, throatier, meaner, louder, and still quiet enough to hear my stereo, which includes some power gains.

Message: You'll need to measure, but on my 02 QC the only direct replacement I found was a Thrush glass pack, which I tried and didn't like due to the drone it made at highway speed. Definite V8 glasspack sound when you got on it though :-)
Otherwise, with short extension pipes, lots of options open up.
I ended up going with a Magnaflow (2.5", SI/SO), which needed a short extension pipe to fit up to the stock pipes. Definitely a better sound then stock, but to be honest, I wish I had spent the money elsewhere. The stock muffler is a good balance between performance sound and "muffle-ing".
