 Subject: Radio repair $$$$$

2001 QC 4X4 4.7 with stock radio/cd player. Warranty ran out in sept/04 and now the clock on the radio isn't working (looses time). Dealer wants $40.00 to remove it and a base charge of $250.00 to see if they can fix it. Any ideas.

You can pull it out yourself and make sure the memory wire is still connected and not broken. I believe it's purple. I don't belive there is a fuse so if everything checks out then it's probably internal and not worth repairing. If you find the wires (it's in the stero wiring harness) check to see if there is voltage on it to make sure it's an internal problem.
If you really want to keep the stock stereo I have a factory stereo from my 01 dakota that i'll sell you cheap.
Replacing it is easy, took me about 25 min to do it.

I can understand wanting to replace with another factory stereo, especially if you have steering wheel mounted stereo controls like I do.

ewraven, thanks for your input, I don't have the steering wheel controls. I also did a search and found a brand new stereo, problem is its in the states and is shipped ups, we get nailed with duty. The stereo you listed is the wrong one but thanks anyway.
