Subject: exhaust IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 5.2 w/ gibson exhaust! Just recently had catalatic converter cut off and replaced with a fat-cat pipe to flow through. 6 months later my check engine light comes on and my read out says
PO420 catalyst system effiency below threshold
(bank1)
dealership says- rear O2 sensor or bad catalytic converter
Could it be because I have no catalatic converter or should I check into a O2 sensor?
Thanks Fletcher

Message: yea their duals. with the catalac off much louder compliments everywhere i go. I myself have been looking at the single more for purposes of a body kit with the side exhaust! But to anser your question i think a it would a little i perfer the duals unless your going with some kind of kit to match that side exhaust
go gibson

Message: There is an O2 sensor before the cat and after the cat. Your computer needs to see a difference in temperature/mvs between the two sensors ie. if the cat is present the expelled exhaust shoule be hotter after it goes through the cat. If you remove the back o2 sensor you will get a code.
Do a seach for Casper Electronics, call them and ask them if they make an o2 simulator for your application.
