Message: We are in the midst of trying to find out why our 99 Dodge Dakota V8 stalls. It started last fall and it was fine over the winter and it has started up again. We could be going 100 km down the highway and it just dies. No power at all. Then if it sits a minute, it starts up again.
Any ideas, we have had it to our mechanic and he can't figure it out. We are ready to sell the thing.

Message: Try cleaning the throttle body. I have to do this occasionally in my 98 dak and it works every time.

Message: I have a 98 5.2 and mine was stalling too. it was really bad on a cold morning to get started and then once i got it started as soon as there was a load taken off the engine or comiing to a stop it would stall. all I had to do was put in a new battery cause when the guys at the garage tried to do a high load dischage test the battery was toast. try a battery test and if your battery is shot then it wasn't supplying enough power to the computer to properly run the engine.

Message: I have a similar problem with my '99 R/T. If I am going 80 mph or more, and I slow down hard to turn, It just shuts off. I am thinking though that since mine is an auto, that the torque converter is locking up or something and the brakes stopping the engine. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Ben

Message: I have a 2004 4.7 V8 Dakota. Usually in the mornings when slowing down or just sitting at idle the motor will either rev up or just stall. It has happended at normal operating temp as well. Put a new Airraid system in, and cleaned throttlebody, and problem still occurs most mornings. My mechanic thinks it could be air/idle. Any thoughts?
