 Subject: Infant Car Seat

I'm trying desperately to find a rear-facing infant car seat
that will fit properly in a 1999 Dakota Club Cab. Has
anyone had any success with this? The seats all seem to be
too deep and require that the front passenger seat be all
the way forward and erect to fit. Any suggestions are
appreciated.

I've had the same problem with mine. I just had too deal with it. Luck for me the little woman is only 5 foot 1. My son is now in a front facing seat but still we are unable to let the seat back very much. We did try several rear facing seats before finding the one I used. Don't remember the brand right off the top of my head but we bought it at Toys R Us It was around 100 bucks. But like I said even with that there wasn't much room not even for her short legs.

Mike, You can get a front facing car seat in the center back of a CC easily if you remove the top portion of the center console. The kid's legs (one kid, 2 legs, ar ar) hang where the center console used to be. Worked great for my 4 year old son. I guess it depends on the kids seat, but in this configuration the front seats were back at a comfortable position and would recline, though not all the way back.
As far as a front facing car seat in the back goes I didn't find anything that worked for our daughter, but you might look at the option I mentioned above. I never tried the front facing in the back as our son was in a front facing seat when I got the truck.
I have a QC now,,, problem solved.

There is a company call Britax..the seat is called the roundabout. It sells for $200.00 at babies r us. They will let you test fit it. It is for infants from 0-20 or 30lbs rear facing then switches to forward facing. It is called a convertable. Just bought a gray one to match my interior (01 club cab). It fits great and my wive does not have to sit up on the dashboard. It fits on either side or the middle. Found all of this info by typing in a search for car seat compatability. There are a lot of accessories for it too. Hope this helps.

It also has a 5 star crash rating and side impact protection. It is expensive...but it is suppose to be the best.
