Subject: 12k fluid change - Hey Amsoil guy!
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '03 QC 4.7 4x4. The manual says to change front and rear diff. fluids at 12k. I'm almost there and want to change to AMSOIL. From what I've read people are happy with this stuff and it seems to improve fuel economy a little. Should I try and do this myself or take it to a quick lube and let them do it. Any information would be helpful. I'm a novice DIY'er. How much for AMSOIL and what type do you recommend?

Thanks!

Do it yourself, using Amoil 2000 series. It's easy, unbolt the diff cover, drain the fluid, clean cover and use rags to get undrained fluid at bottom of housing. Using a good RTV silicone sealer, apply to clean, dry diff cover and let it set for about 15 minutes then, bolt cover to differential housing in sequence and if possible torque to spec (30 ft/lbs). You may have to retorque in a couple hundred miles. If you clean the bolts, bolt holes and use lock tight, the bolt usually won't come loose. retail cost $9.20/qt. Good luck!
