Message: Now, I don't know about you folks, but a 30 ft lb spread is considerable. That explains uneven, but "in spec" lug nut torque on these wheels. Recommend everybody go set 'em all the same.

Message: Plus or minus 15% is a lot of tolerence. Even a
harbor freight torque wrench should be accurate
to within +/- 4%.
Sounds like a $20 torque wrench could save us a
lot in rotor hassle.

Message: Its amazing how many people don't know that it is nessicary to break in new rotors. It is also nessicary to break in old rotors if you use a different pad compound then the previous pads.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS LINK - http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped_rotors_myth.htm
You can rewheel a mile long train with all of the rotors I've "warped" before I found this information. I found this information shortly after I bought my 00 QC 4x4 5-speed...because the damn rotors warped on me and I was sick and tired of warping rotors. I bought some slotted rotors for the truck, followed the break-in procedure, and my rotors have lasted since. Thats over 4 and a half years now. Same thing with my 95 Eclipse. I must have gone through about 6 sets of rotors in the 4 years before I found this information. I had always given up to just live with the problem until it got to a certain point where it really just felt unsafe. But after the procedure worked well for the truck, I followed the same procedure on the car, with the same kind of rotors I had always bought for it - no more "warping".
I am absolutely convinced that I will never ever suffer with "warped" rotors again...for the rest of my life.
Seriously. If you are SICK AND TIRED of warping rotors then you NEED to read that link. It works.

hate to say it but anything they consider a wear and tear item. like fuel filters, air filters. anything that will wear out over time isnt concidered covered under your waranty. I know it sucks but it would be to hard to prove that the rotors was a manufacturer defect. all they have to say is you prob stomp on the brakes too much or didnt tourqe your lugs to the proper specs. I think its kinda misleading when they say bumper to bumper warranty. you would think everything from the front bumper to the rear bumper is covered. I know when my rotors wear out. I will buy a good set of sloted rotors and top of the line pads to go with it.
do the 03 dak front and rear rotors just slide off or are they held on with a nut? I know osme trucks are either way and I dont know about the dak as its my first and I havent pulled the wheel off yet to try.

Message: It does not matter if the dealer calls them a "wear and tear" item, it does not matter if you stomped the brakes, ride the brakes or tow all the time....what matters is the terms of the warranty (see your warranty guide). No matter the reason, if rotors, drums, shoes or pads need replacement due to no failure of an otherwise covered component after 12 months or 12000 miles, they are not covered. They have 12/12...no matter the reason.

Message: DC and others I'm sure cover brakes only to 10k.
After that, you're on your own. Just goes to show
all of us the companys know they are putting junk
parts on at the factory.
Save yourself a lot of future problems and DON'T
bother going back to the stealerships for brake
repairs. You'll only get more of their junk parts
installed.
Use aftermarket rotors and pads like I did. If
you do the job yourself, you'll save a ton of
money. It's easier than you think.

Message: O.K. I just changed out my rotors which were warped to begin with because of a 4x4 hub bearing failure. The bearings laid on top of my R/S rotor and my caliper. Now too many miles later after the hub bearing was fixed, and a shimming in my drivers wheel was there. i replaced the rotors. Now it feels as if the caliber is hanging up. My question is could a bad rotor for a long period of time cause a brake caliper to warp?

That was over 3 1/2 years ago.
Other that running new brake fluid thru my lines, I still have all original brakes, pads, rotors (never lathed), shoes, drums, etc, at over 136,000miles.!!

Unlikely. It would have to be way off to damage the caliper. And then it would be almost impossible to drive.
