Subject: torque Converter Problem?? IP: Logged
Message: I recently replaced my worn 3.9 with a 5.9, Well i'm almost done all i have left is to bolt the tranny up but it seems that when it's bolted up(tranny) i'm unable to turn the motor over for the flexplate bolts???? I'm thanking that i might not have the torque converter in all the way?? is this possible and still be able to completely bolt the tranny to the block??? Plese help I'm really looking forward to dirve it>
Also just wondering what kinda Hp i'm looking at--5.9 with Krc 210B Cam and S/c 10# don't see tranny lasting to long!!

Message: Better be darn sure the converter is seated all the way on the pump or it will go out in no time. I just had the same issue with my tranny, it took me what seemed like forever to finally find the right spot to where the converted slid in ALL the way. After you bolt up the trannsmission back to the engine, there should be about 1/8" to 1/4" of a gap between the bolt holes in the converter and the flexplate/flywheel. You should be able to turn the converter freely without it touching the flexplate, and then will have to pull it out slightly to put the bolts back in. Good luck.
