Message: Most engines turn clockwise as seen from in front of them (i.e. the crankshaft pulley driving the accessory belt), or counterclockwise as seen from behind (i.e. the flywheel). I'll see if there's an SAE standard for it at work tomorrow. :)

Message: All land vehicles turn clockwise looking at the front of the engine. Only boats and aircraft with dual engines turn counter-clockwise. One engine turns CW and the other turns CCW to avoid seering with prop thrust. If both engines in a dual engine system turned the same way the plane or boat would try to go in circles.
