Subject: 98 dakota bad ball joint IP: Logged
Message: I recently went to get my front alignment done on my 98 dakota and was told my front upper ball joint was badly broken. I know that the recall only account for 2000 and newer vehicles, but I was just wondering if anyone knows the reason for that? Is it because dodge cops-out and says if your vehicle is X amount of years old (with enough miles driven) then it's general wear and tear? In which case my 98 would not be covered?
Second question would be: is there anything short of writting a letter that I can do about it?
Thanks for your help

Message: 1998 Dakotas were excluded by NHTSA, but are being further investigated. DC is simply doing what the NHTSA said to do.
Yes, you can write a letter to DC.
