hey I've gotta 99 4x4 5.2 ltr Dak. I'm going up north on a road trip and wondering about the 4 w/d......what speed can I throw it in 4x4? can I just be buzzin at 55 mph and throw her in if I come on some snow covered roads?

You should be fine engaging at that speed, just be SURE you are off the throttle and front and rear axles are spinning at a common speed. If not...wallet damage ensues!

Just recently in my '02 I had to engage mine to get up to speed on an I80 onramp...I let off, shifted at ~35-40 and carried on my way.

Also, let off the throttle to shift out of 4wd...helps the front axle to disengage more easily.
