Message: Well, I don't know if this is very common, but it sure did suprise me. I live in Nebraska and own a '00 Qc 4x4 slt. I love this truck, but the strangest thing happened. It was VERY cold out and I have electric windows. I pushed the button to role the passanger side window down when......SNAP. It sounded like something broke inside the door, and then fell down the door to the bottom. I am a novice when it comes to repairing vehicles. I mainly just do the standered maintaining of the truck. Is this something I can tackle myself, or should I leave this to the pros?

Message: Sounds like you broke a window regulator. Replacing it is pretty easy once you get the door panel and weather seal/isolator off. Just a few bolts, a couple of pins and unplugging the connector for the motor. That and the removal of $200 from your wallet. While you're buying the regulator don't forget to get some spare push pins for your door panel, I have a removal tool and have yet to remove a door panel without busting a push pin. Don't forget to ask for a break on the price at the dealer. I've yet to find a dealer that wouldn't give me a 10% discount if I ask nicely and smile. Good luck!

Message: Here's a tip.
When you know it's gonna freeze over night, leave the windows just short of all the way up - 1/4" or so.
In the morning, after you've let your truck warm up for a couple minutes, put the window up the remaining fraction of an inch. That should break it free of the ice jam.

that may be, as far as you busting pins, but the gen III daks do not use push pins, just a few screws and a couple of 'molded into the inside of the panel' hangers.
