Subject: 305/70R vs 295/75R

Message:
have a question for the group. I am looking at buying new BFG A/Ts for my 2001 Quad Cab 4x4 (4.7L V8 w/ 3" BL).

I understand some of the dimensional differences between 305/70R/16 tires and 295/75R/16 tires, but I want to get the best value and least rubbing for my money. (My impression is that the 305's are a bit taller and narrower.)

My goal is to use the stock rims (due to $ flow) and maintain as much of my turning radius as possible without spacers.

Any thoughts?

the first number is the width so 305 are 305 mm wide (or something like that) and second number is the height of the sidewall is 70 percent of the width, so i think second one would be taller cause the 70's are lower profile, despite wider width. go with those 305 lower profiles if they'll fit.

305's are 305 MM wide and 295's are 295 mm wide so the 305's are wider BUT both are, because of how sidewall ratio works, nearly identical in diameter.usually a 20 mm wider tire with a 5 percent change to a lesser aspect ratio is within 1/2 inch in diameter of the narrower but taller aspect ratio tire.
for example a 235 70 is within 1/4 inch of a 215 75 with a 15 inch rim.
