Message:
I have a 99-5.9L R/T dakota and it appears that when I drive on the highway at a consistent 3000rpm for and 1hr straight I lose about a quart of oil, this adds up on longer drives! During stop and go city traffic I don't lose a drop. I suspect its the valve stem seals. Has anyone ever had this happen and if it is the seals how hard is it to change them?

thanks

George

I had the same problem with my '99 5.2L. I just change the PC Valve wich cost about 4 bucks and took like 15 sec to change. It's been a couple weeks ago and i never had any more oil consumption problem.

PCV is just a suggestion. You may also be experiencing the intake belly pan curse.

...to the best of my knowledge...

The design of this intake has a belly pan that is known to blow the gasket. When this occurs, the engine's vacuum goes haywire and allows for oil to be drawn from the crankcase into the intake, then susequently burned in the combustion chambers and expelled into your catalytic converter to eventually clog it.
