 Subject: engine trouble

i went mudding and everything was fine then i noticed that the rpm dropped low like 6000. then i had trouble tring to re-start it, it would'nt kick over. i was also in 4L and one time it died but it keep moving i quess because it was in 4L?. any help would be helpful,thanks.
