Subject: Installed Mopar PCM!!! IP: Logged
Message: Well I didnt notice a difference at first
but.....when I gunned it I noticed it pulled a little
harder and it hit 5100 rpms just as quick as it
did to hit 4800 rpms from before. About 5000
rpms was when it started to bog down alot
and now it jumps there quick. I have finally
found my O/D gear when I hit 4th doing about
110 m.p.h. I hated it when it was just redlining
in third. But o well. I had done a test to see
how I do for getting up and go. My test is from
one mailbox to another about a 1/8th mile
about before I hit 72 as my best and now I hit
76 mph my first try. I hit third gear before the
mailbox and before I hit it as I was passing it.
I noticed an improvement but to me it was not
as good as I hoped for but I am still pleased
with the results. I ran 93 ocatne in my truck
since yesterday to get the old minimum grade
fuel out. So I know the system is decently
flushed from 87 octane. It also seems like I
have more bottom-end. I boilded my eg leg
half way through third gear and was holding
about 3200 rpms and then I let off b/c I had
burned off a little more than a block!!
Now it time to take it to the track and add
Mopar PCM to my MODS!!

Message: What mopar pcm should i look for a 2000 RT. It would help me out alot.
And also how much would i be looking at. Would this change the rev. liniter and cut out? And also idk if it true but i have heard that some pcms save on gas. Is that true?
Well this would help me out alot. So thanx.

Message: i got this off of e-ay for 40 bucks!! It takes 3
screws and 3 clips and the pcm is off.
I dont know about saving on gas...I will have to
test that part out.
And if I were you I would go to the dealer and
see if they have any in stock for PCMs. They
are in the 330-360 dollar range!

Message: My Rt is a 2000. It has 40500 mi it is completely stock.
Would it matter if i added stuff after a pcm. Or would it be better to add stuff and get the pcm last?
Where would i find B&G? And What do they run?
Thanx alot.

Message: Well...I have a test for my truck to see if it has improved at all. Its from a mailbox to mailbox and it is very close to being an 1/8th mile. The best I got from that was a 72 mph and now I tried the first time with the computer and got 76 mph. I think that would be good enough to put my truck into maybe a 15 flat and trap 90+ mph in the quarter.

Message: No I don,t have dyno comparison my r/t is a 99 ext cab the last time I dynoed the truck it showed 271 rwhp but that was with a cracked head maybe I will dyno it again this weekend. by the way my truck runs .030 faster with the B&G pcm
do some mods first it would be no use to have a pcm to turn an engine to 5400 rpms if it can not breath that my shift point at the track.

Message: The PCM is a very worthwhile investment. It does make a difference and helps out with every future mod. As far as the order is concerned it does not really matter. You can reset the PCM after each mod and let it learn and adapt to the new changes. If you can find a good deal on one, get it. If you are looking at paying full price for it, then look at the B&G flash. Personally I don't think the gains of the flash are worth it if you can save $200 or so. If you are running boost or nitrous then that is a little different.

Message: I saved avout $220 and I will take my kota to the track saturday after I get it dynoes for free at Autozone Sat. Morning. I will be sure to put up all kinds of new number saturday night.
Wish me luck. If I hit a 15 flat I will be very pleased. If I hit a 14.9 I will pass out into a coma!!

Message: hey Mikes99Dakota, did you have a noticable difference with a shift kit. i have pretty much the same truck except a 98 model with a suregrip rear. mine, box stock, ran a 15.70 @ 84.7mph with taking off at idle (if i stall it up any it blows the tires loose..they need to be changed anyways) i was thinking maybe some pulleys and shift kit. if its worth the money. also, whats the real difference between a hypertech and a mopar pcm as far as performance. they are about the same price...only thing is with the hypertech you can adjust some things on it such as shift points and whatnot....

Message: The BG Flash with the M-1 intake already installed gave on a dyno 26rwhp and 34 ft lbs of torque over the stock PCM.
The M-1 pulls really hard from 2,000-6,000 rpms, where the stock beer barrel pulls from idle to 4,000 rpms and falls on it's face. Just with the M-1 intake, the truck feels like a totally different truck. The M-1 is a highly recommended mod along with the BG M-1 Flash. Some say the Flash is comparable to a 50HP nitrous shot.
