I have a 93-5.2 CC 2WD. I have looked at the stock air intake, air inlet at the grill and see no restrictions. Do people modify the 93 Magnum set ups? Or is that a newer truck trend?

i have found that if you create your own CAI setup with a K&N filter that it works just as well as buying one for several hundred dollars
I have an 04 dakota and i used PVC pipe to go from the center cap piece to a flexible heater duct and then ran the filter into the fender well. Works just fine, and has made a difference.

Thanks Fastpastor, but the design of the 93 is a large traditional air cleaner, with an unrestricted air tube going from the grill to the snorkel on the air cleaner. It doesn't seem like a restriction, I see so much on this site about modified air cleaners, thought I would ask if anyone has modified a 93 intake.

I used to own a 93 with the 5.2L. It was a CC 2wd with the automatic.

I just went to Autozone and bought a old fashioned round open air cleaner element that came with the top and bottom.

It was around 20 dollars; it already came with the part to hook up the EGR(or was it PVC?)hose and it fit right where the old air cleaner assembly went.

All of the factory parts from the top of the throttle body upwards came out and was replaced with that one air cleaner.

With that and a Flowmaster 40 series with dual outlets; I was seeing a consistent 21mpg highway. I was getting 17mpg highway before those two mods.

EWRAVEN, thanks! Did the flowmaster 40 make much difference? Did you keep the cat? I have not seen a flowmaster kit for 93, did you do a custom?
Thanks.

Yeah, I know the combination of the Flowmaster and the new air cleaner thing did make a nice impact on MPG. I never took that truck to the track though; though my buttometer tells me it probably would've run a high 14 second 1/4 mile.

I went to a muffler shop that carried Flowmaster mufflers. The mechanic put a two chamber Flowmaster muffler on in place of the stock muffler. I was told the other day that todays version of the Two Chamber is the 40 series. The one I had put on was a dual outlet; he then put two 2 1/4 inch pipes coming out of the muffler and routed out under the back bumper with a couple of big chrome tips.

It sounded great and I could make car alarms chirp just by idling through a parking lot.

I kept the catalytic converter with that system; it was really just a cat back system.

At the time in 1998; it was 220 dollars to have that whole cat back system paid for and installed.
