From what I gather, a pcm flash like when you restore your home pc. It's wiped clean and configed back to factory settings.

When it is done at the dealership (assuming they maintain the most recent versions), the flash will also provide any performance updates from DC.

Basically its reprogramming the PCM, wether a custom flash for more performance or a dealer flash to address a drivability issue. Its not simply resetting the PCM as was guessed.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Tire size is limited in the PCM to a few preset sizes. When you change to a different size tire, you must set the PCM to the closest tire size available in the programming...unless, on the aftermarket, there is available any software updates that can add more tire size options in the computer.

Can you still alter pinion gears on newer vehicles to adjust for tire size changes?
