Subject: Gibson Header Install Problem
IP: Logged

Message:
I was putting in my new Gibson headers and the driverside header touches the brake booster and does not line up with the y-pipe, the passenger side installed fine. From looking through posts it sounds like people had similar problems with other brands, but not Gibson. As far as I can tell, I bought the right headers to fit my truck, but I could be wrong. Also, I had to install a new y-pipe because it was cracked, but the new one appears identical to the original, so I don't think thats the problem. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but is there something I'm missing here, the headers should fit, or did I recieve the wrong header for my truck. Its a 1997 318 4x4 manual.

What part number did you get? I believe you should have a GP301 or GP301S (stainless).

I'd bet on the y-pipe. The Gibson's are designed to fit to the factory y-pipe. If that's not what you have, it's the most likely problem.
