Subject: '04 Tach Question IP: Logged
Message: Just got a 2004 Dodge Dakota 4x4 Quad Cab with the 4.7 V8, my 3rd Dakota.
This one's tachometer doesn't have a red line indicator. Dealership is
clueless. My 94 and 98 had them but this one doesn't. Anyone have a 2004
that has a red line indicator on the tach? Anyone know what the redline is
for the 4.7?
Thanks in advance.

Message: My 02 doesn't either. I do beleive its 6-6200 though. I know mine bounces the limiter around there.
I have the 45RFE (yours would be the 5-45RFE, if auto, and its mechanically the same) and with my foot in it, it will shift at around 5300.

Message: It's not on my '03 either and I assumed that the PCM will never let rev past it anyway so there is no reason to mark it.
They were marked back in the day when we had to rely on ourselves to get our foot off the floor to keep things from blowing up.

Message: Thanks for the info. I know everything on todays engines is computer controlled. I just have never seen a tach without a red line indicator.
