Any tuneup recently? There could be a number of causes: O2 sensors, dirty air filter, worn plugs, etc. etc.

I have a 2000 SLT Dakota with the 4.7 V8 Motor, the truck ever since owned new seem to have lousy brake, truck now has 106,000 miles and have tried several types of brake pads, none seem to help. My son has a 2002 Durango, same platform as the Dakota, the braking system on the Durango are better than great. Could it be the porportioning valve's be different. The Dakota when brakes slammed to the floor you get on pulsating when the aiti lock takes over, the pedel goes almost to the floor, but the truck just want do a quick stop.

The brake systems are different, including the proprtioning valve, due to the differences in weight distribution in the Dakota vs Durango.

May also have newer style brakes on the Durango.

My 02 Dak stops quite nicely in my opinion. I do however plan to at least change brake pad type (to lessen the nasty dust) and possibly rotors to an aftermarket brand (depends on how bad the warp gets).

I recently purchased a 2000 Dakota Quad Cab with 4.7 and 4 wheel drive. I get about 10 miles per gallon with out AC on in Florida (Flat Roads). I have a check engine light that continues to stay on. I have had the Up and Down stream O2 sensors replaced to no avail. The dealers mechanic says the fuel pump is delivering low pressure, but I took it to a mechanic and he check and said the pressure was fine. The dealer also told me that I needed a new power steering system and it was just a loose line. The O2 Sensors are getting a low reading on the up stream, but replacing them has not fixed anything. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
