Subject: Transfer case bolt fell out IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 QC 5.2 4x4 5-speed, I went to change the transfer and transmision fluid, well I saw a large 1" bolt on the bottom of the transfer case and unbolted it (now the bad part) A piece fell out of the transfer case. There was a spring on the bolt and a smooth round nipple that fit over the top of the spring. It went back in without a problem but I am worried I messed something up. Does anyone know what that part is or have a Dakota service manual that tells?

Message: I believe that is the sector shaft detant plug. The manual says to install it with the transfer case in neutral. As long as it shifts OK, you should be fine.
