Subject: Gas Smell IP: Logged
Message: I have a 93-5.2-cc-2wd. Lately after driving the truck to my favorite fishing hole, I noticed I could smell gas close by the filler door on the truck. No gas leaking when running, I checked that. More prevalent on longer trips versus short trips. I know all the gas line connections are in that area, as I said I can not detect a leak when running. Anyone shed some light on this?

Message: Brad...possibly just the seal around the fuel cap allowing vapors to escape. If no leaks are present, the fuel cap or one of the evaporative system hoses allowing vapors to escape.

Message: Yep. Sounds like maybe a bad gas cap, or EVAP system hoses (or the charcoal canister) leaking.. or maybe the veny line for the fuel tank is loose/craked...
