Subject: Overdrive not workin IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 92 dak 4x4 318. I put it on the road and noticed the overdrive won't shift in. It's not cold out or anything. the speed sensor is not hooked up(broken)it's killing my gas milage(over $60 a week compared to my v6 dak which was $40 a week while beatin on it) Any tips or answers? would the speed sensor have anything to do with it? The truck has 205,000 miles on it. The transmission shifts fine though. Transfer case is shot( taking the one out of my old one) thanks

Message: Yes you do need the speed sensor to work. The processor looks at that signal and turns on the overdrive solinode once it sees 45mph. Get the sensor and put it in and it should work if all is well with the seals and clutches

Message: dude your speed sensor regulates so many systems on your truck, dont just drive around without one... your truck wont have the right shift points, eventually your brakes wont work in the rear...if its not under warranty, itll cost you about $80-$90...
