Subject: Coolant in oil?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello. Today I was checking the oil in My 97
ram with a 318 and I noticed a liitle milky
looking stuff on the top of the dipstick. I wiped
the stick and now the oil seems to be perfectly
clean. I drove about 40 miles checked it again
and the oil is still clean. Is it possible I maybe
had a little condenstation in my engine or
does this sound like the beginings of a head
gasket problem? Thanks.

Keep an eye on your coolant level and drive the truck a lot, mark
the coolant level while hot with a crayon to do this check.

From reading what you wrote it sounds like nothing more than
condensation.

Or, let's hope so anyway.

Replace your pcv valve, change the oil, and make sure you have a fresh air filter and clean the breather element in your air box. It should take care of most of the condensation in your engine.
