Subject: Exhaust....again. IP: Logged
Message: Okay, I have read the hundred or so posts on mufflers and now I will ask the question for which I can't find an answer too. I am looking to add a muffler to my straight pipes because I can't stand the drone at 70-75 miles an hour on the highway. Which muffler will give you the mean rumble without driving you nuts at highway speeds? I am considering either a flowmaster 50 delta flow or dynamax super turbo. I have heard that flowmasters drone no matter what, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Message: I have a Gibson on my 03 4.7 it seems perfect to me no drone, somewhat low key at an idle, but will really turn heads when you mash the gas. Higway speeds it is perfect I travel from Seattle to Spokane once a month 4 hours straight through and it doesnt bother me a bit. Just a good clean mellow tone.

Message: I've had a glasspack and a Magnaflow on mine. The glasspack was sent packing due to the cab drone. The Magnaflow sounds good, and no drone. I can't speak for the Flows or the Dynomax. I liked the idea of the straight through design of the Magnaflow

Message: I have a dynomax super turbo on my 4.7 and love it. Used stock pipe and just replaced muffler. Great sound low (not as aggresive as fm) and relativly quiet up top.

Message: I went the cheapskate way with my dodge chassis motorhome. I put one stock muffler on each pipe when I switched from a single exhaust to headers with duals. I kept my power, and is very quiet at all but idle and heavy acceleration

Message: replaced my stock muffler with delta 50 suv.
will trade for a 40 series. anyone in md want to swap?? not intended to be too serious but trying to let this guy know that the 50 is kinda quiet. it is 1/2 step louder than stock. look into what is the quietest 40 series, or maybe what is the loudest 50 series. i got the quietest 50 and i regret it. but seriously, anyone want to trade?

Message: Just my 2 cents. I first tried Dynomax super turbo, kind of quiet, then I tried flowmaster 50 delta flow, again kind of quiet. I was looking for something with a nice rumble at idle, mean as hell at WOT, but at regular cruising RPM, would be as quiet as possible i.e. drone! MBRP! kinda pricey, buy well worth it.

Message: MBRP is supposed to make a good catback system. I had tried to get just a muffler from them some time ago, but it didn't seem like they wanted to sell just the muffler. So I moved on.

Message: 03, yeah I am dick, and again, every Tom, Harry, and everbody else has flowmaster, some here have dynomax or gibson or magnaflow, to each his own, I would rather do the research, make my choice, than the stupid question, which exhaust is best?

Message: Newbie 2002 Quad Cab SLT 4.7 4x4 owner here. I know nothing of exhausts other than what I like, so please bear with me. I've been reading the informative posts above, but I'm still unsure of what I should do. First, I do not want a racer, just something that's wicked fast when I want it. I want a deep, satisfying note but not something that annoys others. And price isn't really an issue. Right now I've only got a larger aircleaner, which seems to give me about 5-10hp; I do know that I'll probably want headers as well, and I want the pipes out each side behind the rear wheels. What specific products/brands/models of systems should I get?
