Just purchased one. I hear from many that these programmers or any programmer does not work. Here are a list of reasons why you should purchase a programmer.
1. Lower your engine Temp. (i am using a 180 deg thermostat). Thus, i want my engine in close loop operation. Thus, will not cause the engine to run in open loop. Normal operating Temp for my 5.9 is 185-195. Thus, ensuring the engine will not run rich.
2. Lower temperature means longer transmission life. Lower your lubricant temperatures. Meaning longer and more effective life.
3. I chose hypertech because, you don't have to run 93 octane, they have a choice between 87 & 93 octane programming.
If, you are intrested in hp alone, then go buy a Dodge pcm. However, if you are intrested in just ensuring that your engine runs cooler, then buy a hypertech.
If, there was some way to just change the normal operating temperature without buying this programmer, i would have done that.

Just got one installed on 97 5.2 Very happy with it. Question Hpertech suggested running a 165 thermostat Was wondering if it made that much diff?

Make me an offer-it's just taking up space and collecting dust. The only reason I'm not using it anymore is cuz I'm waaay too modded and have to use a custom flash. It was awesom when I had all the basic stuff though. My email is kmcf1@yahoo.com I really need to get rid of this thing so we can work something out.
