Subject: a\c compressor noises IP: Logged
Message: I have a feeling i know the answer to this but,my a\c compressor seems to be the source of a growling noise similar to a water pump thats on its way out.It seems to be worse when the truck is first started and when coming off highway speeds.Anyone have experience with this and are there any tricks to keep in mind when changing the compressor

Message: sorry dude, but yes it is time to change it out.
What you want to do is evacuate all the freon from the system and pull the system into a vacuum(to make sure all freon is out of the sys.)
then just disconnect your a/c lines and unbolt that sucker and bolt the new one in and put your lines back on using new o-rings (will save lot of hassle of doing it again -usually leaks if not replaced) and recharge and your good to go.
