took my 92 dakota to the shop today cause it still misses, and the mechanic went to pull the truck into the shop it wouldnt start.. the fuel pump is gone at 149,000km. goin to gots $490 plus tax. and thats not even fixing my miss yet.. Im not impressed with dodge I have always been a chevy guy and now that i go to school all i could afford was a dodge and they seem to be nothing but trouble. i shoulda listened to almost every mechanic shop they have always told me that dodge trucks are there biggest customers. not built strong and they dont last long..

im not sayin just my truck in general. Im talking about all dodge. why do you think the resale value of a dodge is so low?, when u compare it to GMC and Chevy which have the highest resale value. and are the best trucks one the road. The only reason dodge got some more sales in the last couple of years is the new fake hemi. the heads on the hemi are not really even hemipherical. close but no real hemi.. but the word hemi sells. doesnt it?? alot of ppl are just waiting for the hemi dakota.. if you want a hemi go buy a real hemi. not some market scheme to bring buyers back. you dont see GM bringin back the LS6 454 which destroyed hemi's cause GM has the sales. and they know trucks.

I am pretty happy with the resale value of dodges. I paid 21000 for my 318 4x4 99 dakota with all the options I could get plus a few aftermarket parts like bedliner nerf bars and mudflaps rolled into the lone. Its now been paid off for almost a year and it books out at 12,000 in trade at the place I bought it. I think that is good. With a 150k loosing a fuel pump isn't bad, my dad lost his at 89k. Things break on old vehicles. I got to do some moog's on mine a popping noise has appeared and I am at 63k. Fact is every vehicle will have its issues regardless of make or manufacture. In the 80's almost ever cheavy truck rusted out and flaked paint because they were using cheap steal and painting over preexisting rust. Chrystler uses cheap ball joints, fuel pumps and cat-converters.

For as long as I can remember it has been the chevy guys putting down the ford guys, The ford guys putting down the mopar guys. It all boils down to what you prefer. Everyone has a horror story about their vehicles, whether it be chevy, ford or dodge.
I remember when chevy could not make a block that did not seep anti-freeze because of bad finishing on the blocks, and who can forgive ford for making the mustang II? One is not better than the other. It all comes down to preference, Brand loyalty, whatever you want to call it. Good luck with you truck.

Trent, you're so full of crap I hardly know where to start. Not impressed with Dodge ? Then you shouldn't have bought one. I'm not impressed with GM or Ford. Everything brand has their problems, and Chevy certainly has their share of them. The LS6 454 definitely did not destroy the hemi. In some classes of drag racing, the hemi is the only motor run - not because of rules restrictions, because the other motors just aren't competitive. You'll find hemis in camaros and mustang bodies.
You can't even figure out why your motor misses on your own; but you expect us to belive Chevy is better because you say so ? Go back to chevy then, and quit whining to us !

If Chevy knows trucks so well. Take a look at the Silverado SS......and then look at the SRT-10 Ram and the Ford Lightning or even the Harley F-150......the Silverado SS isn't even close.

why do most of you guys resort to the racing saying my 4x4 modded up dakota beat a stock silverado. who cares.. they are trucks! trucks are not ment for racing. they are ment for working hauling towing. sure there are trucks built to go faster then ur average everyday work truck, but they still dont compare to muscle cars or corvettes, mustangs, etc u get the picture. i read tons of forms on here and everybody seems to be trying to race everybody with there dodge dakota.. wow man ur good small truck with a V8 should smoke a large truck with the same HP v8... why dont u impress real truck guys with amazing towing feats. howabout u guys take a 10,000 pound trailer on ur truck and then race it against a fullsize truck and see who wins.. alot of u guys im not sayin all have the whole truck issue goin the wrong way. i know some of u guys have 2x4s and slamming them is awsome and looks good just dont brag like 12 year olds when u beat some 2500 heavyduty pickup from stoplight to stoplight.. have some respect for what each truck is designed for. i know in earlyer post i did say some stupid things about chevy being better but thats what i grew up on and i think almost everybody likes the make of truck that there dad or grandpa had.. also i knew when i started the post i would get tons of ppls attention, its fun to see everybody go into defence mode when somebody says stuff they do not agree on..

No disrespect...but for some odd reason I get more people in chevy pick-ups trying to get me to race them. I Have a Quad cab, With a pappy cap over the bed. I guess my nerf bars look like sidepipes to them. Wether the truck is a 1500,2500,3500 If they piss me off enough I going to show them my a$$ end till they get the idea. I, since I gotten married, and had a family put those racing days behind me for the most part. Sometimes I think some...not all chevy truck drivers have some sort of complex about racing their trucks. But I will tell you this, IT SURE IS NICE TO SEE THE REACTION ON THEIR FACE WHEN THEY CAN'T CATCH ME. I even let them think they beat me when I backed off enough to let them pass me. Just to keep feeling good about themselves.

This got me thinking.....I think the only people that try to race me and my '00 QC 4x4 are other Dakota owners! I don't think I've ever had any other vehicle try to race me. I don't recall ever anyone trying to race me in my previous Chevy's or GMC's at all. When I had my Porsche(lost in divorce)every kid out there was trying race me no matter what kind of car they had. But since I've owned my Dakota, I honestly have to say that I think it's only been other Dakota owners that want to race. Why? Who can tell. My racing days were way back in high school when I had a '71 Cadillac with the 472ci. I have no need to prove anything to anyone anymore so I just let them pass me.

Trent, who appointed you the all-mighty determiner of what something is meant (that's how it's "ment" to be spelled, by the way) to do? Ever heard the term "sport truck"? I guess those GM boys should've checked with you before doing the Syclone and Typhoon a few years ago. According to you, they're trucks...shouldn't be raced. Well, they are great street-race trucks. Nothing in the cargo dept. They're supposed to haul. Well, my Dakota, and many others haul. HAUL ASS! Do yourself a favor. Go get a Chevy truck, then do us a favor, and go whine on some other board.
