Message: i like chevy and dodge but not ford what so ever. but i can say for a fact, that chevy has had many fukk ups in the years. for example, the vortec 350 is a pile of sh!t. not one part of the engine was consistantly reliabe. yea yea, ill get the childish reaction for someone saying that theirs lasted a million miles and you never changed the oil. but... ive seen, heard and been in those trucks with the vortec 350 and witnessed them loose lower ends like crazy.
and another thing.. im very confident in saying my 318 magnum will outlast a vortec 350 any day. or any P.O.S ford junker too.
Message: jayb the vortec 350 was a great engine!! j/k! i have also heard bad things about the vortec 350ci
i would also bet that DC has came out with the most reliable engines! i never hear about dodge engines falling apart unless it was the 360ci 5.9 i have witness 2 5.9s b crack heads but they had over heated the engine years before cracking. i know the 318 is one of the all time best and probably only beaten by the slant six! like people say the 318 is the most desired motor for demolition derby cause they can handle being over heat very well.
Sorry posted signature on 12/12 - 12/13/2005 that messed up FIREFOX screens!
Message: I have a 4.7 01 qc and i have a 1996 chevy 1500 with the 5.7 and with a 150 its quick, reliable, and it hasn't let me down. I have a zz4 h.o. cam but the motor only has 72k miles, 30k less than the Dak. but I broke the axle in the Dakota lmao
Message: The only difference between the 350 and vortec 350 is the heads and fuel set up. My work van is a non vortec 350 and has 280,000 all original and don't burn or blow smoke it's been the most reliable truck I have ever driven so I would believe the vortec is very close to reliability but I never owned one.
