Subject: Which 50series Flowmaster IP: Logged
Message: Ok...I have an 02 4.7 CC 4wd that I want to sound a little better.
The stock exhaust is all fine, so I don't want to replace any of it. However, I would like to put a 50 series flowmaster in place of the stocker but don't know exactly what I need.
I want a stock replacement, use stock exhaust peices, only swap mufflers. What size inlet/outlet? Offset, how much?
Thanks a ton.
Ohh, if you have any different muffler suggestions, feel free. I want a noticable sound, but nothing loud or high pitched. I want V8 ruuumble.

Message: I had a 2 chamber Flowmaster on my 4.7L 02 QC but it droned far too much so I replaced it with a Magnaflow which has a much better sound. It didn't drone at 65 - 70 mph like the Flowmaster did. I also repiped the tailpipe after the axle so it goes out the back of the truck. As far away as possible from the rear windows. It has a great sound when you get into it just off the idle.

Message: Faced this same situation when I bought my 04 cc 4x4. Wanted to use all stock tailpipe and only replace muffler. I went with a dynomax super turbo (part # 17748) which should sound alot like 50 series fm. Only other parts needed was a 4in piece of coupler pipe (dynomax muffler is a little shorter than stock muffler) and 3 muffler clamps. Sounds great and the whole job took about 45 mins. and cost less than $80. Hope this helps. mayo.

S/I D/O in my 04 quad. The drone in the cab hurt my ears (ear peircing!!)around 1800 rpm. Hated it. Got a Magnaflow s/i d/o #12258.
Still has some drone... but is 100 percent better.
IMO...I think the drone noise is worse in the quad's.
Gonna sell the flowmaster!

Message: Here's the specs that I found for my 02 QC:
o 2.5" in and out
o outset is about 4-5"
o overall stock length 28", 24" muffler length
I replaced my stock muffler twice. The first time was with a glasspack. The lengths were the same, so no pipe mods were required. I removed the glasspack due to cab drone. It drove me nuts on the highway, but did sound good when I got on it.
I replaced the glasspack with a Magnaflow, just due to the straight-through design. The Magnaflow was the 18" muffler size with a center/offset in/out setup. The Magnaflow has a good, more agressive sound with no highway droning. It did require an extension pipe to extend from the back of the muffler to the stock tailpipe.
