Message: Just did mine:
1. Take upper radiator hose off, this will get rid of some of the radiator fluid.
2. Remove Alternator support bar, it's the black rod like piece that connects the alternator housing to the intake manualfold.
3. now you have clear access to the 2 bolts that holds the thermostate housing. Remove those and pull off the thermostat housing. There's your thermostat
I would suggest buying a new thermostat housing from the dealer, reason why, because, that old gasket is a real bear to get off and if you take a drimmel to it, you'll smoothen out the whole surface, which is suppose to have a little stamped lip. It's only $8.50 for the housing and $2.20 for the gasket at the dealer. Get the thermostat from autozone. The ones they carry are not stant. I have heard many people say that the stants run low, that means a 180 stat, may run much lower temps, which is no good unless you have a chip where it tells the computer normal operating temps are much lower.
