Subject: 91 headlamps..sealed or plastic? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 91 ext cab dakota that has the older "replace the whole lamp" type headlights. When I see photos of other 91's I see them with the newer plastic lense, "remove the little bulb" headlamps. Was that an option or a 1/2 year replacement? Can my older sealed lamp be converted? Are the headlamp/grill moldings interchangeable between the two types?
Help!

Message: I have a 91 with the Newer style bulbs. I do believe that it was a change half way through the model year. The parts should all be interchangable. You will need the headlights and new grill bezels. I would say a salvage yard would be your best bet, that way you can get everything you need. Hope this helps you out.

Message: There was 2 different trim levels for that year also........some came with the sealed beams and some did not. They would be interchangeable but you would have to replace the grill, headlight assemblies, headlight wiring, and possible the core support brackets. I did a similar swap on a Chevy that I had. It was a pretty straight forward swap to the newer style lights.
Hope this helps
