Subject: Viper wheels on a dakota?
IP: Logged

Message:
Has anyone tried to mount a set of Viper wheels on their dakota? I'm trying to find out what the backspacing is for the viper wheels front and back since the rims are different front to rear. Have found a set of used wheels/tires about two hours from my house, but the seller can't give me exact measurements on the backspacing. Any help is appreciated!

It has been done. I'm pretty sure that you need 2 sets of front wheels from a Viper, the rears are to wide for a Dakota. I believe you need 1/2" spacers Here's a pic, copy and paste: http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/docs/docDownload.aspx?guid=226DA285-A65C-4D82-9B1A-A971A9F62F5B&webtag=dakotart

Thanks! That's what I needed to know. Was really hoping to use the rear wheels as well, since it's very hard to find someone who will sell only the fronts or buy only the rears! Wonder if the old Mopar spring relocation kit will work with the Dakotas? Moving the springs inboard should give the clearance...might require a little tubbing too?!?

I had 2 front wheels from a 96 gts I had just sold on ebay. they will fit on front and back of my dakota r/t, but to look right you do need spacers on the rear. the back wheels on a viper are 13" wide. the front wheels with 315/35/17 had only 1" of clearnace between back of wheel and fender well. if the back wheels had 3" less back-spacing than front they would fit fine.
