Subject: gut check IP: Logged
Message: hey guys ive got a 93 dak with a 5.2 and im just wondering if i can gut the cat without any codes comin up....as of right now i have stock 2.5" collectors into the stock 3" single in throo the cat into a single 3" in dual 2.5" out flowmaster original 40 series with dual 2.25" runnin out the back.......in sounds pretty sweet but it doesnt have quite the pop im wanting and its not as loud as i want it... so will gutting the cat make a difference without giving any codes...and will the O2 sensor still function properly...thanks for your help

Message: You have an O2 sensor before the cat. Then you have one after. The one before the cat is used by your computer to adjust all the air-fuel mixture ratios. The one after is just to verify that the first one is working properly. They do make an O2 sim, i think it called. That actually takes the place of the 2nd O2. Thus, you can do whatever you want to the air-fuel mixture without throwing a code.

Message: His a 93 it sill falls under OBD1, if doesnt use an after cat o2 sensor. you should'nt have any codes pop up being that there is no after cat sensor, however i never recommend gutting the cat because they are there for a reason, im not slamming ya about this but its illegal to do it.

Message: i know its illegal but down here in texas they dont test for emmisions and most places down here dont even check blinkers....so emissions testing is out of the question.....but thanks for the info....i plan on making a recording of before and after and ill try to post em if anyone wants to hear it

Message: I also have a 1993 Dak with,5.2 headman headers a catco cat 40 flowmaster 3" in 2 2.5" out.Deep tone then you slam the gas and well can I say Sounds like a dam Drag race.Anyhow I have a problem now.No start,will crank but won't start.If you spray carb cleaner in it it will fire and run enough to burn it off.Any ideas?I am tinking fuelpump but not really wanting to buy one.
