 Subject: 97 318 swap

I'm replaceing my 97 318 with a rebuilt 318 of the same year. I had a machine shop go through it and built it up for me. It is still all stock but for gibson headers. The problem is that once I fired it up for break in, the headers started to glow. And in chasing that I found that the temp gauge does not work and the motor dies coming down to idle. Timing is good and there seems to be no vac leaks. Help!

I live in Northern Illinois. I talking to a guy at the dodge dealer, he thinks it is a blocked cat. I'm waiting for new parts from magnaflow.
