Subject: 4.7 air intake IP: Logged
Message: I keep reading pros and cons about air intake kits for the 4.7 on stock trucks. Has anyone installed one on a truck with headers and a good cat-back exaust fitted?
I have a '01 reg. cab, man. trans and installed the cat-back first, it sounded great but not much gain. The stainless Gibson headers did make a nice power gain at all RPM. Definitely worth it!

Message: I've got a 01 QC 4x4 4.7L and the first mod installed was an intense performance Z tube w/pro flo filter. I recommend this system as it is good quality, works great and looks good as well. Next I installed a flowmaster 40 series and custom 3" catback. I think the intake/exhaust combo really opens these engines up as I noticed a huge difference. Next I installed JBA shorty headers and got only a small increase out of that. But I think a good exhaust/intake combo is a must for any truck

Message: my only mod so far is Flowmaster catback,my throttle respnse suffered enough that i could feel the loss in torque. I had a 0-60 time before the mod and after. I couldnt come within 4/10ths of my stock time, and that was with fresh plugs.4/10ths thats horrible, hopefully the intake will get me back to stock times, dont see how it could get better. If it dont then i guess the intake and exaust are more show than go! So far the flowmaster is all bark no bite.
