 Subject: Anyone raced an SS Silverado?

I raced an SS on the highway the other day and was wondering if anyone else has...we were dead even until he hit his speed limiter around 100 and I blew past him...was very surprised that a truck like that could merely hang with my '04 CC 4.7 5spd with intake,exhaust and nitrous (which I was out of so couldn't spray)

The SS is an apearance package as far as I know. I like the looks of them (only Cheby truck I like) but I'm pretty sure its the same 5.3 that the other 1500's get.

The SS has the 6.0L and is AWD. It's heavy though.

i have, well im selling my SS camaro and every SS chevy's put out is appearance.
i dont understand why chevy didnt turbo or supercharge the silverado SS to hang with the lightning...???

there is a chevy out there that does hang with the lightning, its supercharged and has over 400hp i beleive.. joe gibs makes it so look it up if you want.

your probably thinking of the Joe Gibbs Silverado that is a whipple charged 5.3. Regular cab, five speed... etc etc. Price tag right around a new lightning too. It's production because Gibbs sells it right out of dealership... kinda like the Hennesey is considered a production car.
I think the one thing that the SS silverado gets that no other half ton is the 6.0L motor. I think the biggest the others get is the 5.3... unless the SS is on a 3/4 chassis.. maybe.. dont know that much about it.

just finished the last major problem. Old distributor went bad...
bought a mopar performance unit and it pulls a lot better on the top end and just all around runs better.
have you put that 239 to use yet?

i ran an SS Silverado a few weeks ago and he could not keep up with my dak. had him by about a car and a half at about 70 and when i got to about 130 he was no where in sight. we did this about 2am on the highway in arlington texas.

I have raced one stop light to stop light in my rc 03 r/t earlier in the summer and it was pretty even till we got close to the light then I was inching away a little. He was looking suprized and pissed at the same time...thats all I wanted to see!!
