Message: What is the best wiper blades out there for the money. My 2002 dakota eats wiper blades up like crazy. 4 sets in the last 7 months. I have used ACDelco, Bosch, Trico and Anco on this thing and they all do the same thing. I have even used the glass wax on the windshield and the rubber still tears up. Any body else have these same problems?

Message: my dak's wipers get dirty pretty quick, they last for a while though (6 mos or so)
When they get dirty, and don't work as well. I just use some westleys bleche-white (pretty much any tire cleaner should do the job) and apply a small amount to a rag and wipe the blade down...
I have noticed, that they miss a small spot on the lower passenger side. my 98 dakota did this as well... it must be something with the shape of the window.

Message: bnc, this may sound odd...but there is a recall on the wiper pivot assembly...it affects '02-'04 Dakotas and '02-'03 Durangos if I remember correctly. Could possibly have something to do with your problem. Recall number is D22, call a dealership with the last eight digits of your VIN and they can let you know. It is a fairly new recall,(couple months old) so you may not have received a notice yet.

Message: I was told that putting denatured alcohol on the blade will revive them. So I tried it and it worked great, saves me a lot of money on blades and let me tell you that is one big pet peeve of mine, having wipers that don't work.

Message: I've had pretty good luck with wipers from wal-mart... something like "Lexor" "Lexing" "Lextor" brand. They're 6 bux a piece. They have a good metal frame and usually last me about a year.
It might just be that recall tho. thats pretty quick to chew through wipers, even the cheap wipers last longer than a few weeks...

Message: I just swapped my old blades out for some new ones made with Teflon. I dont remember the manufacture but I picked them up at the local NAPA auto center. These things are some of the best blades Ive had and they dont seem to be degrading like rubber blades. Those combined with a little Rain-X seem to be doing me quit well. That teflon is some tuff a$$ sh!t; Ill never buy cheap rubber ones again.
Dont forget, with the cold weather coming up, that one of the biggest snipers of wipers is ICE. My trick is to always remember to shut off the wipers when I get out of the truck so that the next time I start it the blades arent ripping off due to ice or being frozen to the windshield - always let the defroster do its job first...my 2 cents.
