what are some common problems with these trucks?
what are some negatives/cons about these trucks?
what is a ballpark figure that 4.7's dynos?
what size gears usually comes with an 04 sxt 4.7 quad cab?

Water leaks mostly in front passenger floorboards from either front glass, doors or rear glass seams/seals.
Warped brake rotors big deal although my '04 SXT Quad has 4500 miles on it since August 9th and no problem so far...
You're window sticker *may* tell you which gear set is on your truck either 3.92 or 3.55. If you see *Anti-Spin Differential* listed I'd bet money it's the 3.92.
Con's:
If you're a lead foot its a gas guzzler
Wind noise around the front doors
You may end up spending all your spare time driving it.
Pro's:
Good handling
Good cargo capacity
Massive interior room
Power to spare
Stock CD/Radio has enough power to blow the stock speakers :-)
4 Wheel drive works really well :-)
Engine appears to be pretty well built and bulletproof.
It's my 2nd Dak moved to a Quad for interior room g/f and 2 65+ lb dogs don't really travel well together in a CC...

Either look at the window sticker or check out the ID tag on the rear diff. LSD can have either, I have 3.55 LSD...
Other than that...great trucks.
Ohh yeah, I'd try to get the dealer to replace the brakes and ball-joints before the warranty goes. Thats what I plan on doing.

Good luck - I've heard they'll just say brakes are normal wear if the problem isn't in the first 12,000 miles; and they won't replace your ball joints if there isn't anything wrong with them.

When I bought my '02 from a large 5-Star dealer, the brakes were brand new, rotors and pads. Joints are factory still. Bought with 23K on it.
My joints are making some minor noise and clunks if I turn full lock and back off a little. One boot is also torn. I'll wait a little bit till they get worse.

Water leaks? I've heard of the A/C condensate leak. But not the door seals.
I've driven my 2003 QC 4X4 through lots of 1 and 2 feet deep water crossings and never had water come inside. I've had water up past the bottom of the door jams. No problems there.
The only thing that wasn't water proof was that insulation they stick under the cab.
When I was going through repeated water and mud puddles for several weekends in a row it couldn't take it and started coming loose. It finally dried up since I decided to take it easy on the truck for a while.
