Subject: Wet passenger floor IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 CC with a wet carpet on the passenger side. It has been in once and they said it was coming in from the a/c where it comes through the firewall. Well, thats been repaired and it is sopping wet again. I don't use the vehicle for Baha ing, just an everyday driver.
Can anybody give me any solutions to help correct this problem. Thanking you in advance.

Shadow1, sounds like a heater core has rotted out or sprung a leak. Good luck.

Message: this happened to me once. my floor mate was not socked but it was wet, i also had a smell coming from the dash and the a/c was not getting cold. i took it in and the first time the fixed the condincer that is in front of the ratiator (as you can guess did not fix it). so it went back and this time they relaced the evaparater, which is in the dash. they had to take the dash out which is about 8 hours of labor just to take out and anther to put back in that does not include the replacing the part. this did however stop the leaking and the smell, and the a/c started working a little better. hope this helps.

Message: Definitely a bunch of info in a search. In my case, 02 QC, the seal around the drain tube was "pinched" at the firewall (according to the service writer). This allowed water to blow back in at highway speeds.
They removed the core, trimmed the carpet/padding and replaced the seal. This did fix the leak. I did notice though that it took a few days for some of the residual water to dry out. Since then, it's been dry for over a year now.

Message: Yes, do a search on this as there are several causes. I determined mine to be partially from a badly sealed windshield and believe the rest of my problem is from somewhere else.
My wife's 2003 Durango also has a soaked floorboard and the dealership cannot find the problem, in fact they claim they have never heard of a "water in floorboard" problem except in a few Caravans yet they employ a "water guy" to find such problems.
Anyway, they determined there was no blockage in either of our A/C units and since it only seems to happen after it rains, it must be body-seal related.

Message: I have a 94 and bought it in 98 with 60k. right away I found the driver floor carpet soaken.
I took out all the seats and carpet to dry it out. Then did the hose test aroumnd the fire wall. no luck.
I then took out all the side panels, rear seat, tool box under the seat, back wall carpet and roof liner.
(I figured if I'm going to look might as well check everywhere)
Anyway I found the problem.
The trim that runs from the top of the door back around to the rear window was in place and once remove by the four nuts oin the inside revealed that the body panel was only tacked together and not welded or sealed. A tube of windshoield sealer and dry since.
The carpet was out and I watched as the water would run down the back wall and track alongside the door jamb to the front footwell.
Hope this helps. An easy home project in less than the 8 hours to just remove the dash for a look. Remember the dash will never go back the same. Something will always rattle or squeak once replaced.
