Excuse the intrusion, I am a Jeep and Durango guy, but I need some competant Dakota information. I wish to install a 4.7 +manual trans +tcase from a Dakota or Ram 1500 into my '93 Jeep. I need to know what years had the 4.7, if there were any HO versions of the engine, whatever I can learn to help me get the right junk yard drive train. Any insite you may have is appreciated. Thanks, Don

Dakotas got the 4.7 from '00 on, not sure about the Ram. The HO versions were in the Jeep only, until now. Most of the torque gain from the HO can be had just by swapping the cams. Your biggest problem may be integrating the 4.7 PCM with your stock gauges, good luck !

I see what you mean about the gages. I looked in my '01 Durango FSM on the 4.7 (I have a 5.9 R/T) and see the sensors all feed the PCM, which than has a bus to the dash. I may do a simpler GM 350 or 4.3, will look into that too. Don

GM 350, there ya go. You can't beat the price on parts or knowledge and aftermarket upgrades for power are very affordable. They have been around for so long that finding help on repairs or mods will definately not be a problem.

Mopar 360 would be simpler, and better integrated.
