it shudders[shakes]the truck when you take off hard and sometimes when your going,
if you let off the gas alittle or step down on it more it will stop,
it,s not the torque convertor and the trans don,t slip, fluid looks and smells good
any help is welcome

Message: How do you know it's not a bad torque converter or a slipping clutch pack? That's exactly what you're describing.
Anyhow, most transmission shops offer free test drives or scans. I'd suggest making use of one of these.

Message: Noltz- i should of said i don,t think its the convertor, not that i have ruled it out,
i thought of the clutch pack, but it shifts great and don,t slip
i was thinking that a seal may be causing the pressure to go out sometime or maybe the valve body
its not my truck but a friend has it,he says hes had it to a trans shop and they dont no whats causing this and told him several things could cause this, but with out tearing in to it who knows
he says hes put 10-12k miles on it sense it started doing this
i would think the clutch pack would have given outby now
thanks for your info

Message: what year model mileage and trans is it? If dodge it must have atf+4 or the symptoms you describe will occur. Maybe he got the wrong fluid somehow?

Message: Sometimes it happens even with the right fluid. The TransGo kit resolves this issue as well.

Message: what shape are your U-joints in?? Just a thought...... I had to get the universal joints replaced in my other dak (at 50k HARD miles) it might be soemthing to look into, before you start tearing into your tranny..

Message: I'll take daffydak's angle on this one. About 2 weeks ago I started to hear(windows down obviously) a squeaking, screeching noise. About a week later the "shudder" started happening. It didn't matter how much or how little you hit the gas, from a stand still, the shudder was there. Turned out to be a bad front u-joint on the rear driveshaft. As a precaution I had both replaced. Shudder solved.
I think Dodge used poor quality u-joints, I've already replaced the front u-joint/rear double cardan joint on the front driveshaft.
