Subject: 180 T-Stat On A 4.7

Is the 180 t-stat worth doing on the 4.7? I've done intake and exhaust. I'll probably throw some NGK plugs in as well. Just wondering whether I should install the t-stat also.

It has been shown that the 4.7 likes to run better with the 180. I live in Florida and the 195 would have been to hot anyway. The 195 was used from the factory only to meet emissions testing. That is what I have read on this forum.

The 180 T-stat will allow you to pull off the clutch fan and run with only the electric puller fan that the factory included. I've had NO problems yet, but it hasn't hit summer here in Atlanta.

That's excellent advice Alex. If that is true it would balance out the lean condition that could occur from going to a cooler T-Stat. Taking off the engine driven fan would give more power and balance out any rich condition, in theory. I believe I will try this combination. I have only had the clutch fan come on early in the morning on cold days with a cold engine. I have never figured that out, done it in other cars too. I imagine that the 4.7 would run fine with just the electric fan. The 180 T-Stat would make it run cool for sure. Thanks

had some pretty warm days in So. Cali, and
no problems...if I sit at idle in traffic when its
warm, the temp guage hits the middle, and
the elec fan kicks on, seems like the fan isD
gonna stay off for the summer (might put it
back on if I do any road trips to vegas though!)
