Message: Depends on how much nitrous you are running, im figuring about 75 or so, if thats the case you probably wont need to back any timing down. the normal rule for nitrous is 2 degrees retard per 50hp of nitrous. Best thing to do it make sure the kit is functioning properly, if its ok, then make a test drive, spray the system ABOVE 2000rpms, listen for odd noises mainly a pinging or knocking sound (detonation) if you hear this get out of the throttle immediately!. And recheck the kits installation. More than likely you are going to be perfectly fine with no retard, just make sure you are using premium fuel when you do spray. Also if you have any other type of computer mods, like a jet kit or somthing, you'll need to get a retard box to pull the timing off the chip adds. If you do have to get a retard module, get the msd start/reatard, now with this setup you are going to have to get either the 6A or 6AL ignition system, msd make you have the ignition system first before you can get the start/retard box. Ive been spraying 75 on my lil 3.9 on the street with no timing retard and its been perfectly fine, i spray 150 at the strip with only 4 degrees retard pulled off, so with your 4.7 you should be safe up to about 75-125 whatever the manufacture of the kit calls for. But spray it, listen for odd sounds, and keep me posted

Message: Seth, thank you very much for the detailed reply I was waiting for. The Zex kit I have is a 75-125 kit, the guy from Zex said no timing retard was required for the 75, 2 degrees for the 100, and an additional 2 for the 125. Have not sprayed the system yet, I am awaiting a cool night for the track. Thanks again for the help.
